About Axis
You can make money for twenty years and still have nothing to sell.
Profitable and valuable are not the same thing. One pays you while you're working. The other pays you when you're not. This firm was built for owners who want both.

Why I Built This
You didn't start your business to be a slave to it. At least.. I hope not.
I started my first business because I was good at something and I was tired of making somebody else rich. I bet you did too.
Three years in, it had outgrown my ability to manage it from spreadsheets. I was working harder than ever, but the business wasn't getting more valuable. It was just getting bigger and messier.
Some owners hit that same wall and refuse to let the business grow past their own lid. So it stays a job. A profitable job, maybe. But not a scalable, sellable business.
The only way to grow sustainably is to build systems that scale. Systems for how money comes in, how it gets recorded, how decisions get made, and how the work happens when you're not there.
That's what we do at Axis. We build the financial and operational backbone that lets a business grow without collapsing under its own weight.
A business that can't run without you isn't a business. It's a job you can't quit.
The Two Games
You're playing one of two games.
The Tax Game
Stay small enough to keep your arms around it. Keep the revenue quiet. Inflate every expense you can find and get a smaller tax bill.
It feels like winning. The scoreboard is your tax bill, and you're beating it every year.
The Scale & Exit Game
Build something that runs without you and that somebody would want to buy. Grow it. Systematize it. Pay a pile of taxes on the way — because you made a pile of money.
The scoreboard is what the business is worth the day you decide to be done with it.
The second game pays better. Even after the tax bill.
What's left over when you win the Scale & Exit Game is more than everything you protected playing the Tax Game. You end up with more money in your pocket and a company somebody will actually write a check for.
Playing small to save tax costs you more than the tax ever would. It costs you the value you could have built.

It's also just more fun, and if you ask me... Winning is fun.
We'll do your taxes either way. But this firm was built for the second game.

What It Actually Looks Like
An hour every Friday. That's how a business gets fixed.
Meet Josh. Not his real name, but the story is true.
I met with Josh every Friday for three months. One hour each week. We sat down and I got to know the inner workings of his business. Not his taxes. His business.
We looked at how his order forms worked. How he collected money. How he recorded expenses. Who had access to what. Where files were stored and secured. How he budgeted. How he handled cash flow. How he thought about profit, and how he thought about cost.
Every single problem in that business touched money somewhere. Most of them had been hiding in plain sight for years. They weren't tax problems. They were operational problems that showed up in the numbers.
A year later he had grown thirty percent, and he had enough working capital to keep growing without borrowing against his house.
And here's the part I'm proudest of — he knows how to do it now. He doesn't need me to tell him what his numbers mean anymore. He can see it himself. Now we meet quarterly to work on growth, not to put out fires.
The Part That Matters
A coach would have handed Josh a worksheet. Not me.
Instead, we built the order forms. We ran the collections. We fixed the books underneath all of it.
He didn't leave those Friday meetings with a stack of homework. He left with less on his plate than when he walked in. He went to work on the root of the problems while my team handled the day to day.
Understanding your business and improving the work are two different jobs. We do both.
We think it through with you. Then we join in the work.
What We've Built
A buyer isn't paying for your profit. They're paying for what happens after you leave.
The difference between a business that sells and a business that only makes money is whether it runs on systems or on you.
A buyer isn't paying for this year's profit. They're paying for what happens the day after you leave. If the business depends on your memory, your relationships, and your daily decisions, it's not worth much without you.
The Problem
A private membership club was running billing, receivables, and expenses across roughly twenty locations, each doing it a little differently. Nobody could tell you what the group actually collected in a month.
What We Built
One billing and bookkeeping operation running all of it — standardized coding, centralized AR, one reporting layer across every location.
What Changed
We reduced outstanding AR from 12% of sales to less than 1% of sales in 9 months.
The Problem
A shed dealer had roughly 1,600 rent-to-own customers on monthly contracts. Off-the-shelf billing software doesn't handle rent-to-own, and a spreadsheet doesn't handle 1,600.
What We Built
A billing engine and service operation purpose-built for RTO contracts — invoicing, collections, contract lifecycle, sales tax handled by state.
What Changed
Full transparency and tracking for the lifecycle of that contract. From sold, to delivered, to collected, overdue, on repeat until the end of the contract.
The Problem
Fixed assets moving constantly across 4 states. Buying new ones you didn't need. Selling them and not saying anything to accounting. No single source of truth.
What We Built
A mobile-first asset management tracking system completely customized for this business. QR codes assigned to fixed assets. Checked in and out from each location.
What Changed
Real-time analytics (financial & operational) on fixed assets like fleet, warehouse machinery, and equipment on a single dashboard.
The Problem
HVAC, roofing, and electrical owners were getting a P&L every month and nothing they could run the business on. A P&L doesn't tell you your close rate or your average ticket.
What We Built
Operational KPI tracking built for how trades actually work — job-level margin, close rate, ticket size, tech productivity — sitting right next to the financials.
What Changed
A true gross profit-by-job report that the client can use daily to improve efficiencies.
Nobody asked us for any of these. They asked us why something wasn't working, and we went and built the answer.
So which game are you playing?
If the answer is the second one — or you want it to be — let's talk.
